Without the latest drivers, a computer may not work as fast as you would expect and crashes may be a common occurrence. All hardware components need drivers. Although some of them come preinstalled with Windows, you still have to periodically update your drivers. Keeping track of so many drivers can be a tedious chore, but with Driver Booster, it takes only a few clicks to check and update all drivers on your computer. The application lets you know which drivers are up to date or not and it can retrieve the latest versions from the Internet at a moment's notice.

Driver Booster is free and it can be upgraded to a paid version, which offers more features. It can be installed in a few moments, but you should not rush blindly through the procedure, if you don't want to install additional toolbars on your web browsers. The application works on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 and it does not ask for too many resources.

When launched, the application will show the overall state of your drivers, on a compact user interface. Additionally, Driver Booster lets you know how many devices have outdated drivers. All you have to do is click a large Scan button, to re-check your drivers, if the software is not set to perform this action automatically on startup.

It takes only a few seconds to complete the scanning process. The scanned drivers are displayed in a list, along with their performance ratings, as well as updating options. You can update your drivers one by one, or click a large button located above the drivers list to update everything in a single run.

Driver Booster comes with other useful features as well. You can set it to scan your drivers automatically, on a daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly basis and to show nothing but drivers that pass WHQL tests. Furthermore, the application is capable of creating system restore points automatically, before updating your drivers. If a new driver causes any problems, you can restore your operating system without any effort.

Pros

You can scan and update all drivers on your computer. The application allows you to update your drivers one by one or update everything in a single run. It can also create system restore points.

Cons

The free version is a bit limited, compared to the Pro edition. Instead of checking your drivers on by one and looking for the latest versions on the Internet, you can use Driver Booster to perform the same operation, for all drivers, with nothing more than a few clicks.
